Sister Room

We had been contemplating for awhile now to put the girls together in one room.  We weren't really sure how/when to do it, but we thought... when Emma stops napping we'll do it.  Well it all came together a little sooner than we expected because we got some free big girl beds from our family!!  So Memorial Day weekend was the time.  We put the girls together and it has been a much easier transition than we expected.  Emma transitioned into a Big Girl Bed seamlessly and Maggie is still in a crib.  Here's some of the funny discussions we've heard since the two have been together;

1. Emma singing to her sister saying 'It's okay Maggie...just go to sleep."
2. Maggie trying to get Emma to come wake us up before 7am.  Emma knows the rules but Maggie still tries.
3.  Emma terrorizing her sister pretending that its thundering outside (Maggie doesn't like thunder right now) and enticing Maggie to cry and call for Mommy 'because she'll come if you cry.' ha!
4. Maggie would play with Emma by throwing her lovies/dolls out of her crib and asking Emma to get them all for her.
5.  Lots of songs songs songs... anything from Jesus Loves Me to Frozen hits. And sweet little giggles.
6. Last night we had the best one of all; Emma climbed into the crib with Maggie to 'sing' her a song!  haha.  How can we get mad when we just laugh about it. She got in fine, but I think she would've had trouble getting out since she never mastered a crib escape.

We've traveled a few times since they moved in together and they really like being together.  We were going to split them up one night but they were pretty adamant about staying together.  I still need to hang things on the walls but here's some before/after shots.

Right after walls had been painted.
After!  We've added a few things since then, but you get the jist.
Eventually Maggie's crib will be replaced with the same bed as Emma's.
Then they'll sleep toe to toe!

There have been some downsides... we don't get that one-on-one cuddling we use to at night time.  Maggie use to go to sleep a little earlier than Emma, but now we put them down at the same time.  They do wake up a little bit earlier, but they go to bed pretty quickly.  Maggie still takes a nap so she gets the room for that in the afternoon and Emma has her quiet time in the 'playroom'  (aka - Emma's old room).  Emma does occasionally nap, but we have a little toddler blowup bed she uses.

I have fond memories of sharing a room with my little sister and I know they will too!  Can't believe these girls are old enough to share a room.  Love you little ladies and don't grow up too fast.
