Dallas got an ice storm that forced most Daddies home and it was fun to have a three day weekend albeit stuck at the house.
The next weekend we celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary! Billy made our plans and we went out for a lovely dinner and a night at the Dallas Symphony. They were doing their Christmas show which is a huge hit and it was so nice just to sit and chat about all that has happened in the past 7 years. And if you're ever looking for a nice quiet restaurant to celebrate something, Dakota's downtown is really nice. They really went the extra mile.
The weekend before Christmas, Billy was working hard at our church's three Christmas services playing the drums. I have to give a huge shout out, because even though I had a sneak peek into what the songs were, the church did a great job of putting on a very nice production. Not too bad at all for lots of sweet volunteers. My Mom also came up the weekend before Christmas and did some pre-Christmas spoiling of the girls. Shame shame Mitty! :-)

We planned to attend Christmas Eve service but Emma had a nagging cough. So we opted for dancing to Christmas songs at home instead. Billy's work shuts down between Christmas and New Years and it was so nice to have two weeks of family time together. A much needed recharge. The girls loved looking at the lights this year! It was funny how such a simple thing was such a treat for them. Emma thinks everyone should leave their lights out year-round and was pretty sad early January as she noticed them not being around anymore.
We spent Christmas morning here with the girls and we did stockings before breakfast. I didn't know how they would contain themselves with seeing the presents but they did great and just rolled with it. Grandy and Happy came over for Christmas lunch and we played some more. I think we did a good job of sharing what Christmas is all about with Emma. It's fun to see her knowledge of Jesus growing and her asking so many questions. Maggie doesn't have a long attention span but Emma was an active participant. I even took her to the Dollar store and let her pick out some gifts for people which she wrapped. Maybe I'll recruit her to wrap my gifts this year!
We got to travel to San Antonio and Austin after Christmas to celebrate with our family and friends there. Such a treat to be with family on the holidays. And it always flies by too... The girls did great traveling and sleeping in different places. And thankfully the worst thing we've fought so far is just colds this winter! Praise the LORD!

Another funny thing has happened in the last couple of weeks... the girls are starting to really play with each other. Maggie so loves to follow her big sister around and Emma is sweet to teach her things or show her how to do things. Yes, of course, the referee mommy has to appear every now and then, but its nice to be able to clean up after meals or do an extra chore around the house that I would do after they went to bed. Recently, we even had a meal that they were just chatting away together and Billy and I just laughed as we got to have a good long conversation without a sweet little one chiming in.
